Our Royal Python, which is around a year old, maybe more... seems to have difficulty shedding. every time he sheds, he has trouble and we end up putting him in a bowl of water to help him, otherwise the skin comes off in patches and he just cant' seem to get it off. My corn however, the same age, has little or no trouble at all, he nearly always does it all himself just fine (although this time he has been hiding for some time so I need to check on that)
but why is that, do royals normally have trouble? do they require more humidity than corns? we normally sutff some wet newspaper in there when we know he's going to shed to help him along anyway.

I had the same problem with my Royal.
A few ways to help are...
When you see she's in blue give her a warm bath, or when she has old skin left on her.
I found that keeping my Royal in a rubbermaid container (really useful box) has helped as it helps keep up the humidity.
The best way to help, in my opinion, is to prove her with a humid hide.
I have an ice cream box ( ) filled with damp sphagnom moss with just a small gap for her to get into it and sit it in the warm side, ever sinse i gave her this she has shed perfectly.
Hope this helps

Thanks!
I'll try the box thing - the problem is that we never see him/her in the blue, probably because he's in his cave and we don't like to disturb, but although we knew he was coming up for a shed, we didn't realise until I saw bits of skin peeling off and realised. I put him in a sandwich box type thing with some water and a stone. but it took ages, he rubbed himself against the stone and it took ages to get it all off.
I think y're right it needs to be constantly humid.
Have you a photo of your rubbermaid container?

ahhh right. looks like the kind you get in B&Q..? I can see that something that holds the humidity would be better, but I think when we get him in the viv it will be better anyway.
We bought some of that spagnum moos stuff, so we will try what you suggested next time too!

Yep, that came from B+Q lol
And i must admit, it doesn't look great, but it works.
Yea, try the humid hide, i find mine will stay in there most of the time, plus she sheds perfectly everytime!
